Happy Thanksgiving to you Corbin. "They’re not cartoon villains. Many voted Obama, then Trump. Some went Trump, Biden, Trump. They’re not ideologues. They’re people shopping for someone who seems like they might actually fight for them." Bingo. In 2017, after Trump was elected the first time, I wrote this piece: https://trippowers.substack.com/p/a-preliminary-analysis-of-trumpism?r=fv1bf. I think it holds up. It's been two generations of stagnation for huge swaths of the country. The top 10% have done well, but everyone else, not so much. They are rightfully angry at the fact that both parties have allowed the wealthy elites to capture the state and use government to enrich themselves at the expense of the people. A politics that speaks to this is gaining traction quickly, as you point out. But it's got to be true change; it has to unrig the system. Sharing this widely.
This is going to happen. Bernie planted a seed the same time Trump did. Trumps fake tree never grew and, instead, barely stands, full of rot. Bernie’s is a mighty oak. And whether people credit Bernie for the changes on every level of government—from school board to POTUS—we know it’s Bernie! He has inspired the change, but it’s up to us.
Thank you for sharing this good news of another progressive democrat heading for the win. Hopefully Aftyn gets the support she needs to make a real difference in Tennessee!
I've supported this lady through donations. Not because I live there, I'm not a Democrat. But, as Corbin states, Aftyn Behn is offering a vision, hope, and a dream consistent with what America represents to me. Every state needs one or more like Aftyn. Even Florida has a few. Guess I'm lucky! :)
Corbin, thanks for fighting to get beyond the middle of the road bs. Hope you and everyone has a wonderful holiday and reenergizes to help move us past settling for the lesser evil when no evil must be our goal.
“A revolution is coming – a revolution which will be peaceful if we are wise enough; compassionate if we care enough; successful if we are fortunate enough – but a revolution which is coming whether we will it or not. We can affect its character; we cannot alter its inevitability.” - Robert F. Kennedy
So far this is the most disappointing article of the author that indicates that he still hopes for the "transformation" of the Democratic party, a pipe dream of the liberals, who tend to step on the same rakes over and over. They neither learn from the history nor able to rationally evaluate the current economic and political situation. Good luck with your "revolution". If a single conservative senator could ruin all the Sanders's and Biden's initiatives, which certainly was a part of the game, there is no doubt that a dozen of presumably progressive congressmen (each with different views and plans) will have only symbolic effect. Essentially, they will play the same role as Sanders and AOC with similar results. A major advantage could be that they can help to totally discredit (regardless of their personal intentions) the Democratic Party in the eyes of the majority of our population. And, hopefully, a meaningful third force in the form of a popular united Left front that does represent that majority will be finally established.
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 from a Bernie Democrat. I think that there are a lot of US out here.

Amazing news! I feel a tsunami forming ;-)
Shared and shared again👌
Whatever the result, gonna be a bunch of slop articles about how a moderate Democrat would’ve done better. 😂

I'm sorry Corbin. I tried to restack this essay to spread your message. But Substack wouldn't let me. I kept getting their error message.
