Hi Trent, I only managed to catch the first 5 mins live and had made a few to many comments clearly my mileage varies. A a consequence I can't leave a message of appreciation on Grace's substack. Please pass on my thanks 😊
To the meat of it the only controversial aspect of what I saw live was Grace's certain claim that "We face Climate Break Down" whether we do face break down of any category natural ar unnatural begs the question of the cause of the cause, perhaps an ironic metaphor for the logical Contradiction of "Doughnut Economics".
I watched it all on your newsletter this morning and performed my large language model "Corrupted Monica" to your excellent discourse.
I offer it here as my contribution to a blossoming opportunity for a growth of the the discourse.
Like Grace Blakeley's analysis of manufactured scarcity in economics, the planning debate creates artificial poverty of options. We are told we must choose between expert control or market chaos, when the reality is abundance - communities can plan wisely when systems are designed to enable rather than constrain their capacity.
Politicians aren’t the problem. They’re the product. Manufactured by fear, shaped by donors, and shrink-wrapped in slogans.
What you call “the Squad” was never a squad. Just individual brands orbiting proximity to hope. And once the system hands you a badge and a DCCC orientation packet, your rebellion gets gentrified before you even hang a poster.
Power isolates. Movements fracture. And we mistake Instagram solidarity for organizing.
The truth is ugly: You don’t win by tweeting policy papers. You win by making people in power afraid. You build movements that can’t be bought, leaders that can be held accountable, and coalitions that survive the next election cycle.
As Corbin said, if you think you can keep the system as it is and still fix it, you're not ready.
You want to follow Jesus into the temple? Grab a whip. Flip some tables. Stop asking permission from the priests guarding the cash drawer.
Ah. An “autistic sociologist tired of NTs not thinking anything through.” And yet here you are, calling academic librarians—published, targeted, and often the last bulwark against state-sponsored ignorance—“keyboard warriors.” That’s not analysis. That’s a tantrum dressed in a thesaurus.
You didn’t think anything through. You just assumed anyone fighting with words instead of molotovs must be a poser. Meanwhile, the librarians you’re mocking are facing down book bans, legislative censorship, and right-wing mobs. They aren’t “keyboard warriors.” They’re intellectual resistance fighters who’ve mastered both metadata and moral clarity.
If this is your idea of autistic insight, maybe recalibrate. Because punching down on people defending knowledge under siege isn’t clever. It’s cowardly. It’s the academic equivalent of wedging yourself into a faculty meeting just to fart and leave.
Before you declare yourself the sole possessor of critical thinking, maybe read a few of those papers your librarian colleagues helped peer review. Or at least Google who’s actually been doxxed for protecting queer archives and Black history while you were ranting about AOC fanfiction.
What you posted wasn’t sociology. It was ignorance with a complex.
This is the stupdi shit that empowered Trump. You folks wanted AOC to storm into congress and punch Pelosi in the face then throw shit at everyone and have no sense at all of how stupid and counter productive that would be.
You're no progressive and sure as shit not the arbiter of the POC willing to put their lives on the line like AOC and Ilhan.
It takes a truly uneducated, bootlicking bowl of mashed beige to call academic librarians—especially those in red states facing legislative harassment and threats—“keyboard warriors.” These are published scholars, defenders of the public mind, and often the last line between authoritarian censorship and intellectual freedom.
You think they’re “keyboard warriors”? No, they’re data monks with tenure, archivists of resistance, and graceful gatekeepers of forbidden truth. They show up every day to protect access to banned books, preserve queer archives, and teach research skills to students whose schools erased Black history from the curriculum. Meanwhile, you’re over here finger-pointing from the kiddie table of the revolution.
Before you spew your pixel-pouting nonsense, maybe learn how to fact-check, you rent-free Twitter squatter. Because calling these people “keyboard warriors” isn’t just ignorant—it’s complicit.
And if you had one single neuron firing above your reptilian brainstem, you’d know that librarians aren’t the problem. They’re the reason your dumbass still has access to knowledge at all. Try disrespecting them again and you’ll get stamped with the Dewey Decimal code for "irrelevant troll."
2 folks pretending to care about shit they don't understand. Don't say Bernie was a motivation and then not efficaciously support Biden.
You folks set the world on fire because Biden old and white.
The left is losing because they fall for capitalist bullshit just as much as the right. The "left" spent 4 years normalizing anti Biden talking points from Republicans and now can't stop talking about how much they want change when they undermined and destroyed the guy actually offering it.
I am a social worker, 6 clients have taken their lives because of changes in their lives forced by Trump. Next year will be worse.
The left is screwed because their ageism and anti whitenesss is completely surface level and they don't notice when any old white guys do something unless it's Bernie, and selectively ignores Bernie when it serves their ageism.
This site decided to restrict my account because I post reality about Joe Biden, that's the fucking left now. "Fall in line or shut up" just like the fucking right. Stabbing folks on the front lines like me(been a social worker since '97) while virtue signalling that you want change.
Biden was the biggest shift in my entire life. You're uninformed at best, bad faith liars at worst.
Corbin, you are a really bright and experienced guy, with much to share, and you are a workaholic. But. But. But.
Your incessant rant that 'the left' is somehow flailing, losing, etc., is just not true. The corporatized addicts in the D brand, the R-lite folks, are being pushed aside, because normal liberals see them for what they are - sellouts.
But look at recent elections, sans the tremendous gerrymandering that constantly goes on in the SE and bible belt, and 'the left' does pretty well. Problem is, No One in the commentary side of things, that would be you among others, wants to admit that there are dozens of hats not only left of fascism/Naziism, but further, there is/perhaps cannot be a uniting force under one stupid, archaic, zero-sum ping pong game in 'murkan management. I have screamed this for decades, and yet not ONE D brand talking head will even utter the word - independent.
The largest bloc of potential/actual voters, the actual 'center' of everything that is Not Reactionary, including many real 'progressives,' is still ignored. Is it just too murky to see that there is nothing similar to counter the Nazi way that can fit inside an archaic system of fake democracy?
Biden was the furthest left president of your life and offered real substantive shifts and it was met with farts and middle fingers by the crowd who says they wanted what he was doing.
Who elected Biden? Voters who were crashed from the rolls 4 years later. Ck Greg Palast research. Biden is a centrist, corporate D who had to come up with a big answer to combat the grotesque incompetence of the first TFG trainwreck. I found much of what Biden did, with a very sketchy and disloyal Congress, pretty necessary on most points. I do not know who you refer to with 'farts and middle fingers,' but they no doubt were not independents to any large degree. TFG, now and then, offers nothing but petty and illusionary grievance, petty stuff on a good day, idiotic on an ordinary day. And no, Biden was not the most left prez of my lifetime. It would be impossible to know this anyway, since historic contexts changed dramatically since my first vote for McGovern. He and Carter were 'progressive' by any marker, which means they used all parts of the spectrum to suggest workable policies that would not die in the future. Without a mandatory overhaul of the entire process, which will come from only revolution, 'murka is now ready to fall off the cliff it created for itself when Wilson created so many reactionary things more than 100 years ago.

Bless your ignorant little heart.
"Everything is built to turn you into a commodity."
Exactly.
And once everything is a commodity, you begin to see that nothing need be a commodity and that we are doing life wrong.
When everything is a commodity, there is no true value or meaning in life, and people suffer from the inside, out.
"We spent 4 years undermining the furthest left president of our lives and we can't understand why the Democratic party doesn't support left agendas"
- the stupidest people on earth and they are leading the left somehow.

It's a fact that Biden was the most lest president of your life. The only president who did more "left" stuff is FDR.
Carter was a neoliberal who started that entire mess rolling.
Biden was a pro worker progressive as president and as such the furthest left president of any of our lives.
He had a RAGING LEFTIST original agenda before the corporatists and Republicans undermined it completely.
