Absolutely spot on! But I talk to my Democratic friends and they think I’m some sort of raving lunatic. They keep returning to the failed leadership we have had. I do not question your predictions at all. I read Why Nations Fail this year and the Democratic Party falls into a vested elite institution extracting from society and hellbent on maintaining its power and benefits, Clyburn torpedoed Bernie and gave us Biden but he managed to infuriate me again with his Cuomo endorsement; his support told me all I needed to know!

I can only hope that New Yorkers will see beyond the bullshit and act in their own best interests. I hope that they’re tired of voting against politicians. I hope that they’re ready to vote FOR real change. The DNC has not represented the people or the issues for decades. They just had a better mask. It’s time to send out the clowns and demand new standards.

As always you hit the nail on the head. I was just saying this to my husband yesterday. 62% of Democrats when asked say they want to see change in the Democratic Party yet time and again they vote for the old school, no matter how bad.

Peter once asked, “What is the sin of the world?” and Jesus replied, “There is no sin”—only the mess we create when we act from our corrupted nature. That nature thrives on fear, hierarchy, and the illusion that power is safer than truth.

Cuomo is not just a man; he’s a system. A parable in khakis. Zohran is not just a candidate; he’s a possibility we’re told not to believe in. So ask yourself—do you want caretakers of the rot or builders of the garden?

Because if the soul of democracy still flickers, it’s hiding in the shadows of the ballot box, whispering:

Choose the one who dares to build.

I try to share your links with people I think will read them. I like that you get to the point and don't put your readers to sleep. Maybe social media is more for screaming into the void than picking up information and actually reading stuff. I don't know but this morning's article was so damn good. I want everyone to read it.

The relics who endorsed Cuomo—womanizing, rich politicians just like him—are poster boys for a bygone era and what’s wrong with the Democratic Party. I hope NY voters advance into the 21st century and equality/acceptance of and for all.

Yes, I can mostly agree. Yes, you have applied reason to reality with your voice. But u spout change and there is the Who, What, When, Y?, of it... I'm afraid that we, as a nation are too afraid, brainwashed evn, to fight for what we fear to lose the most-Our Democracy, the Constitution of the United States of America.

I'm a fan of both/and, as well as refusing to blame. When both parties work together to limit each other's extremes while seeking to build a better world, we win. Squabbling, Montague and Capulet style, only leads to tragedy, and I'm not speaking metaphorically.

I, personally, would like to see Zohran be given a chance to prove he is what he says he is, squabbling aside re: old language. But I gave up my primary vote to remain registered as an independent, which has me wondering if Independents are part of the reason the two parties are so unreasonable? Maybe we, the Independents, were the check and balance on that insanity? Personally, I think maturing as adults means objective, independent thinking with due diligence, instead of group-think, which science strongly suggests, if not proves, makes us dumber.

If you are serious about starting a bipartisan shift, PLEASE stop calling yourself a “socialist”. The propaganda poison that label invites hinders your message from even being read, much less received. The issues and ideas you champion are crucial. The label you are giving yourself here will DRASTICALLY reduce the possibility of your message to travel and be embraced. And ALL Americans need to start hearing and heed what you have to say, if the country stands even the slightest chance of becoming a freedom-loving democracy.

The Democratic rank and file want Zohran in NYC, but the rich and powerful elite want Cuomo. It's a classic example of the royalty vs the peasantry...and although history shows that the royalty typically won local battles, over the long haul, the peasantry ultimately won, as proven by the signing of The Magna Carta by King John of England in 1215. So too will be the case here, now. "The people united can never be defeated."

What makes you think that Democrats (the party leadership) have ever been anything other than what they are right now? Any apparent vision or leadership of the Democrat establishment historically has only been grudging concessions to powerful mass movements in order to maintain the oligarchy. Notwithstanding the good intentions and hard work of the people who vote for its candidates--and even of some of its candidates--the Democratic Party itself has never been for the people and never will. We need to look elsewhere: to remaking government so that working people run it and plan the future to serve the needs of working people and the planet. This is socialism. Attempting (yet again) to "win back" the Democratic Party is pure self-delusion.

I think the Democratic Party is a political vehicle and I think it has the capacity to be whatever it’s membership wanted to be. Same as Republican Party was taken over by Maga and Donald Trump. Political parties are a political vehicle to represent its membership and it’s voters and it’s donors

In theory, yes: political parties should represent their membership. However, this has never been true of the Democratic Party. As some recent examples, Democratic voters overwhelmingly supported ending funding of Israel and preventing US aggression on Iran, yet all but a small handful of elected Democratic reps have fully supported these criminal acts. The Democratic Party establishment cloaks itself in the mantle of looking out for working people while consistently serving only to placate working people by accomplishing only a tiny fraction of what's actually possible. The reason for that is that the Democratic Party is built not to serve working people but rather to serve the capitalist ruling class. There have been several valiant efforts over the last 60 years to make the Democratic Party actually serve working people's interests, e.g., the presidential candidacies of Shirley Chisholm or even Bernie Sanders. Sanders was on track to win the nomination (twice), meaning he had massive popular support. However, this was no match for the Democratic Party establishment, which made sure to squelch his candidacy, overruling tens of millions of voters. If that example doesn't definitively demonstrate that the Democratic Party is not, in fact, something that is controlled by its members, I don't know what could.

And my message should not be understood as a pessimistic one. Change through popular movements is absolutely needed and wholly possible--just not by banging one's head against the same wall over and over. A new direction is required.

Almost: you are right about the vehicle, and give a good example.

Is Trump a leader? Of course he’s not. He is a masterful user. Democratic Party politics fixed in that way would not be improved, i think.

MAGA expanded the electorate using “red meat,” and “red baiting,” he didn’t change the Republican party, he raped it, and killed it and he took it home. Excitable Boy, they all said.

Bill Clinton and Andrew Cuomo laid the groundwork among others.

Btw: this is our collective Kamma, and is forward looking, is all ways Opportunity.

Obviously, yes, in the short term, voting for Zohran is a no-brainer. It's just not the beginning of some turning of the tide of the Democratic Party. It's a stopgap measure until we can effect significant change on a broader level by appropriating the entire system and remaking it.

Thank you for your article. I don't live anywhere near NYC so obviously won't be voting in this election but nonetheless the ripple effects are potentially huge. I just finished reading another columnist, a Democrat who hates both candidates--Zohran a bit more than Cuomo, it turns out--so I appreciate your very different perspective and am inclined to agree with it. Yes, the Democrats drastically need to change course. What most of them are doing now (with a few notable exceptions such as Bernie and AOC) isn't working. I'll do more research into Zohran now--he sounds intriguing.

🇺🇸THE PEOPLE DECLARE; AMERICA BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE

We are the rightful owners. The government is our employee. And justice is long overdue.

We, the People of the United States of America, hereby declare that:

• The government is not our ruler, but our employee — hired, funded, and directed by us, the sovereign citizens of America.

• For too long, that employee has acted against our will, against our interests, and in service to corporate and financial masters who have bought the law, corrupted the courts, and captured our democracy.

• The fruits of our labor have been stolen, our families buried in debt, our bodies broken by stress, and our dreams deferred — all the while; a corrupted government, protected by corrupted attorneys, enriched its donors, protected its cronies, and silenced its critics.

• We have been denied the most basic human guarantees: Free health, Free education, housing, and dignity — not because we can’t afford them, but because greed & corruption has stood in the way.

Today, We the People Say:

✅ We are the owners of this nation — not banks, not billionaires, not politicians and not the corrupted attorneys.

✅ The American government is our employee, and our Public Servants will serve us, or be fired, or indicted, convicted and imprisoned.

✅ We grant ourselves the bonus we were always owed:

• Free health care

• Free education

• No more Income Taxes if you earn less than $1,000,000.00

• Debt-free lives

• A stable home and no property taxes on our personal residences.

• A living wage

• Time to raise our children, care for our elders, the children, the poor, the middle class, the rich as well, the sick, and our Great Veterans.

• Equal rights for everyone. We are a secular Nation.

• Control of our own futures & spread our happiness and prosperity to the World!

• Like China, America will print our money with no National Debt, & we will retire The Federal Reserve Banking Act.

✅ And we say never again will we be ruled by fear, trapped by excessive debt, or sold off to the highest bidder.

This is not revolution — this is our reward for developing a great Democracy and our hard work.

This is not utopia — this is justice.

This is not theory — this is what happens when the people remember they are the sovereign power in a free nation.

We are not asking.

We are not pleading.

We are restoring what is ours.

And we will never give it back.

AMERICA; FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE…..

FOR OUR PEOPLE, BY OUR PEOPLE, OF OUR PEOPLE…..
