At the same time, for college+-educated candidates (98% of them), there's a tendency to say things in a lofty way with ten dollar words and activist jargon. So on that front, I think polls showing what kind of rhetoric lands the best is useful.
OMG! Is it not PATHETIC that people running for office don't know who they are or what they stand for?!? They ask, "How can I be more genuine?!?" That is a disqualifier right there. Voters may not be able to articulate why they like someone, but--unless they are brainwashed Fox news watchers who have to run to Fox to be told how to feel and what to think--they can detect a blowhard who uses "Look what the Republicans are trying to do," as their opener. I wanna know what YOU as the person asking for my vote plan to do and HOW you will do it. I want HONESTY. Does that even exist, or is it all about WINNING! I get it: we can't implement the plan if we don't WIN the election. But I also believe if you have something to say that comes from your core and you can convince me you are the real deal with REAL liberal values, you'll get my vote. I can cite Corbin's values, plan to get where he thinks we need to go and how we need to get there. Why? Because he talks about it every time he puts pen to paper or opens his mouth. We need him to be a Candidate Spotter, unless he plans to run.
