We have an issue that can rebuild faith in Democrats and government transparency all at once. Trump's own base is turning on him over Epstein. Blood is in the water. So why are only 5 Democrats out of
Fighting Trump and condemning his policies is exactly what the Democrats should not do! It only fuels his mischief. Instead, in the limited time available before the midterms, the Democratic Party needs to clarify its identity. Is it going to be a people's party or a Republican lite neoliberal, establishment-loving, and Israel-supporting arm? The leading New York Democrats have yet to endorse the rising progressive (yes, Socialist) Zohran Mamdani. This is like shooting yourself in the foot! The Progressive Caucus needs to present a People's Agenda - a Democratic Plan 2026, based on the already well-defined platform of Sen. Bernie Sanders. The entire party needs to adopt the platform and start replacing the dinosaurs who remain in the neoliberal Blue Dog cages.
I believe they will remain the neoliberal, establishment-loving, and Israel-supporting arm of the Republican Party. Are they not also beholden to the highest bidder?
Why not do both?? Trumps mischief is endemic. Let the folks who Trump told the Democrats were the Epstein malefactors know that we are with them in wanting truth, always! Do we stand against abusing young women or do we let that slide to possibly cover up any dems who took advantage the Epstein sick grift?
Well, it’s a matter of timing. Whether it is the Epstein matter or simply Trump’s declining physical and mental health, it looks like he may be on the way out in the coming months. I don’t see how that movement survives without him.
HOWEVER, at the moment, it looks like the establishment DINO-Pelosi-Biden Schumer-cratic Party STILL has not gotten the message about the magnitude of change in direction needed. If the plan is to go back to pre-Trump neoliberalism, all is lost. We’ll get another MAGA movement — probably worse.
Opportunism has become our ruination. Needed is the dismissal of the ruling class, its dispossession of all privilege, and its prosecution for its innumerable crimes against the people, against humanity, and of genocide.
I'm sure many long distance runners sometime wish they could sprout wings and fly to the end line and just skip all the hard work. Same or more so with changing the world. But that's a cop out and an excuse for not doing the work. Arm chair revolutionaries contribute nothing useful. Keep the end line in your thoughts, and run every step.
As I see it, the ‘arm chair revolutionaries’ is a petty bourgeois response to the assimilation and application of Marxist theory and praxis. The problem isn’t that this contributes nothing; the problem is the determination to see the system of productive relations swept away, and the refusal to be dissuaded from that course.
By participating in bourgeoise politics, the petit bourgeois practitioners show their allegiance to the Capitalist system. As much as they detest and cower before the [big] bourgeoisie, the petty bourgeois is terrified by the prospects of a groundswell of revolutionary fervor from below.
As I see it, that preliminary, theoretical and practical work, developing the basis of the next system of governance IS the essential, preparatory work, without which efforts to overthrow the rule of Kapital is so much solipsistic Pollyannaism.
Opportunism or a new, social order. Your call, Daniel.
The Dems get back in power they will work to right the ship but that ship is sinking. Corporate and careful Dems don't want to upset the donor class and so we go into the Dem/Repub cycle with nothing changing and the US pop getting more and more frustrated. All this crap about when they go low we go high is fine if you don't live on Main St. F*** it. If they gerrymander, we gerrymander. If they work the system, we work the system. We beat them with whatever means necesssary and if going for blood is what we have to do it, we should do it. They flout the courts, they break the law and Dems go tsk tsk we don't do that sort of thing. It's high time Dems started thinking about who they represent, the people, and stop worrying about what the 1% think because they sure as hell don't worry about what we think.
Two words explain Dem leadership's apathy about the Epstein files: Bill Clinton. Who knows how many other powerful Dems were also kiddy diddlers on the Lolita Express?
A teacher of mine, Michael Meade, has noted that with the seismic shift our society is going through, our political parties are part of the old paradigm and so even the Dems will not be able to drag themselves into relevance. Remains to be seen what replaces them.
Completely agree, BUT I think the issue is much larger than the obvious corruption that will be exposed (no doubt involving many high profile people, which will result in never-ending finger pointing). Do you really think any political party is going to stand up against the misogyny of the patriarchy that this reflects? You're asking for cultural change (Bless you!), BUT...
Democrats need to stop trying to believe their platform is 'we are not Trump.' That's exactly what they want you to do and it doesn't work! You just lost all three branches of government under a non-existent platform of 'we are not Trump!' Please get a clue. Like find a clear, simple, concise non-elitist message that resonates with all Americans. Every message should begin with.. democracy is fill in the blank with less than 5 words. Democracy is taking care of our people. Democracy is due process. Democracy is etc etc. I'm so sick of the cluelessness of the Democratic party. And is anybody ANYBODY laying the groundwork for a Vance presidency. Because it's coming. One of these days the sleepy felon is going to doze off and not wake up.
I’ll guarantee the Dems don’t want transparency in this case because many of them are probably on the list. I don’t care if Clinton has to go to jail. He was just as bad with women. If we’re going “clean the swamp” let’s start with the child molesters.
The Democrats are corrupted. The Democrats are unreformable. The Democrats need to die a quick and hopefully painful death, if we are ever to move beyond today’s corrupted Oligarchy. Asking Pelosi, Schumer, Jeffries, for action! Are you kidding me? The have collectively turned the Party into a willing tool of the oligarchic donor class. The Party is now the protection wing of the Republican Party, ensuring no Progressives are allowed to challenge the status quo. And this is all at the behest of rich donor class that supports them. If we are ever going to see real change in this country it will be by a new political party backed by a well armed citizenry.
If you are depending on this for power over Trump, you are going to be disappointed. Most people really feel this is not in their wheelhouse and are willing to elect someone ( and their appointee charlitans and crooks to follow) to office who has been convicted of similar charges, of breaking Federal Laws, is accused of even worse ( theft of money collected for charities comes to mind) and yet he now holds the office of the President? To add insult to injury, we have seen him in action before and still placed him as Resident Select? Do not rely on whatever he did or did not do with or for Epstein to tip any balance of power. Greater truths must do that.
The political opportunity is, in fact, exposing ALL of these sexual predators & prosecuting them; exposing who financed Epstein & his suspected connections with Mossad and intelligence. These could lead to an ultimate collapse of the deeply intertwined and corroded governance under which we exist (regardless of party.) To wit: the financial and corporate control of our laws, courts and all three pillars of federal government. Also, perhaps unmask the ghouls that continue their complicity in genocide, and our endless fauning over and funding of Israel.
Really? Haven't we been here before? They always stop short of completely undoing what's been done, or simply making superficial changes that have no real meaning

They can do both!
Yes we can, and should, Debra. I'm with you. I'm calling the switchboard tomorrow (Monday).
Why not do both?? Trumps mischief is endemic. Let the folks who Trump told the Democrats were the Epstein malefactors know that we are with them in wanting truth, always! They've already answered that question.
Opportunism has become our ruination. Needed is the dismissal of the ruling class, its dispossession of all privilege, and its prosecution for its innumerable crimes against the people, against humanity, and of genocide.
And we’re pursuing an ‘opportunity?’
Not the way forward.

May I co-opt your marathon imagery?

Pelosi's political calculator has been fine tuned to defense against a stronger Party. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Or maybe she knows more about the Epstein pedophilia ring than she wants to see go public.

All I can say is: anyone who isn’t screaming for a deep investigation and total transparency is protecting someone. They all need to go down!

Is cultural change too much? In the face of environmental collapse and likely extinction? Really?…
Well, I'm all for it!
Then don’t undermine it with reservations, ADVOCATE!!!

The Donald is the Hoax.
The call's coming from inside the house.
Trump is on the list.
He is the deep state.
Trump Strong !! Democrats Weak....
Where does Genocide JoeBiden the Babykiller stand on this ?

Vote socialist - vote libertarian - but vote to get those vampires out!

They won't use it, because there is no difference between them and Republirussians
MJ: Jasmine Crockett, Jamie Raskin, Sheldon Whitehouse, Jeff Merkley, Bernie, AOC,
Corry Booker, Chris Murphy, Jim Himes, Jason Crow, Mark Kelly and many more authentic caring people in Congress do not fall in that category.
