This movement is beyond DSA's old guard politics. DSA needs reform as well as the rest of our society and they should know it. The old and current DSA can act as a launching pad but it's not the rocket. It's not what's going to rock it!

These politicians, and that includes the vast majority those in seats of power, whether woke or Maga, will either wake up and become true public servants or fall by the wayside.
Our first "socialist" president said it most succinctly, " the government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth." Reading and meditating on Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is a great way for every politician to start every day!
The point of the two pieces together is that moving to a single-payer universal system would produce enough savings to simultaneously begin the work of expanding supply.
Your point is well taken, and I would enthusiastically support the switch, but part of the proposal should include identifying those areas where initially the government would be continuing counterproductive policies or situations, explicitly prioritizing fixes.

I think I'm understanding the basic math. Please comment on the following. In discussions, I would like to be able to say something like this:
"Hey, if we have a chance to save 5 trillion dollars over 10 years, at least, and possibly up to 40 trillion, and along the way have fewer hassles and people not dying and diseased from denials of needed treatments, meaning better healthcare overall...and as a country we could spend at least 5 trillion dollars less for this better healthcare, and possibly $40 trillion dollars less, what's not to like?"
"Oh, you like the idea? And you want to know what it's called? The broad label is Medicare For All."
Yet Medicare-for-all is Woke. Does this prove that MAGA-GOP is no longer fiscally conservative? Or is it the icing on their spending splurge called fiscally conservative?
